On May 23-25, 2017, the largest international exhibition of innovative technologies for the agro-industry “Meat Industry. Poultry King. Freeze industry for agriculture/VIV Russia 2017” took place at the Crocus Expo”, which corresponded to the concept “from feed to food ”. In parallel with the exhibition, the 3rd International Summit “Agrarian Policy of Russia. Present and Future”, was organized, during which world-class professionals and industry representatives from regions of the country discussed the most significant problems of the Russian agro-industrial complex.

At the international exhibition, leading companies in the industry presented innovative developments for animal husbandry, swine breeding, poultry farming, and feed production. The exhibition has again become a significant event for representatives of the agro-industrial complex from around the world. The event fully justified its concept of introducing and using new technologies in each of the sectors of the production and processing of animal protein.

In addition, the industry leaders discussed the most important problems and prospects of the agro-industrial complex of Russia at the 3rd International Summit “Agrarian Policy of Russia. Present and Future”. Already that year, the event becomes an authoritative platform for dialogue between business and government on the development of the industry, ensuring product security in the current environment and attracting investment in the agro-industrial complex.

The summit opened with the plenary session “Agrarian Policy of Russia. Present and Future ", at which the speakers touched upon the current state of the Russian agro-industry and growth forecasts for the coming years, talked about international trends in crop production, animal health, food safety, discussed the future of domestic and foreign investments in the Russian agro-industrial complex, export the potential of Russian agricultural products, as well as measures to support the promotion of products of the agro-industrial complex to foreign markets. Indeed, at present, it is agriculture that shows steady growth in a declining economy.

The business program included speakers from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), the Board of Industry and the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, as well as representatives of consulting companies, managers of large enterprises. On the second day of the Summit, emphasis was placed on activities in the livestock sector of the agro-industrial sector — turkey farming, poultry farming, and swine breeding. Also, one of the topics that attracted the most attention was feed production: speakers and participants raised questions about the export prospects of the segment, predicted the prices of grains for the 2017-2018 season, identified problems and suggested solutions for Russian feed production, and together tried to understand whether Russian innovations are working in the agro-industrial sector. The key speakers of the second day were: Vladimir Petrichenko (“Prozerno”), Vitaly Smirnov (Sodruzhestvo Group of Companies), Alexander Dashchenko (AgroTerra Group of Companies), Pavel Sklyuev (Coral).

The third day of the event continued with a section on one of the most important topics in the agricultural sector: at the conference devoted to the development of Russian exports, speakers and participants discussed current issues and prospects for the export of agricultural products and their products, examined the opportunities and limitations of Middle Eastern and Asian markets.

Lively debates in two sessions were held on the topic of investment in agriculture. In the format of panel discussions, topics of support for agricultural production and investment activity of the industry were discussed. The stable development of the agricultural sector of the country and the export potential attract investments into the industry, both from current producers and new players, and make agriculture one of the most interesting segments for investment.
